Melvin Guilliard to Face… Rich Clementi?!

Apparently baby Kevin Randleman is back off his cocaine suspension, and ready to take on a “game” opponent in Rich Clementi.

If you remember Melvin, he’s that guy who’s underachieved the whole time he’s been in the UFC. Every time he takes a minor step up in competition, he manages to screw it up. Take a look at this recent record:

Win over Marcus Davis by TKO (Cut)
Loss to Josh Neer by Submission (Triangle Choke)
Win over Rick Davis by KO (Punch)
Win over Gabe Ruediger by KO (Flab Punch)
Loss to Joe Stevenson by Submission (Guillotine)

He beat a one dimensional Marcus Davis, which was two years ago, thankfully Marcus has shown promise recently. He then loses to UFC washout Josh Neer, when he should have won easily. He KO’s black belt in karate Rick Davis, then he beats more cushion for the pushin Gabe Ruediger with the flab punch felt around the world. So after beating two relative unknowns (Gabe wasn’t known for his crying beforehand, or maybe he was?) he steps up to take on Joe Stevenson, and gets choked out before I could grab a damn beer.

He really is a baby Randleman, he has drug issues, he’s cocky, he loses fights he should win, and completely underachieves. So he’s getting another chance to start over, and with as much talent as this kid has, he needs to be able to string together some wins, and not fold under the pressure this time.

Keep in mind, there is history between Melvin and Clementi. Apparently Melvin punched Rich at some event. So you know, Rich might be a bit aggravated about that. Here it is, in Melvin’s words:

“He called me all kind of racial names. Rich gets on the Internet, and I become much more of a known fighter back home. I guess he was jealous of me being on the Ultimate Fighter. He was basically saying that he made me who I am. I told him in simple words, that when I see him, we’re gonna fight. I don’t care if it’s at church or at the grocery store. I saw him at the fights and he came up to me going, ‘hey, what’s up Melvin.’ I told him that we were gonna fight. I punched him and beat his ass. I just found out that he’s fighting at the Pearl. So if I see him at the hotel, if I think he’s coming at me in the wrong way, there’s gonna be a fight beforehand.”
